Everything starts with a self-taught musicoholic, bulimic of electronic sounds. Nested in the heart of the ancient volcanoes of Auvergne, this Clermont-Ferrand-based thirty year old practiced musical alchemy for almost ten years before releasing his first EP in 2015.
While first entering the scene through Nu metal – mainly as a singer, he honed an industrial and electronic oriented musical solo project, which came out into the open in 2013 at Le Caveau des Anges (Clermont-Ferrand, France).
Norsh then got thick with a trio of musicians from Rock and Metal backgrounds and began recasting his compositions, now integrating a rock formation. This wild exchange of experiments resulted in « Eyeesser », Norsh’s first EP, finalised in 2014 and proposing a powerful industrial rock, sometimes bordering on the experimental, reminiscent of Nine Inch Nails. This is probably what is likely to happen when an Aphex Twin and Skinny Puppy fan refuses to turn his back on the american « Nu », after the trend faded away.
And this is what this first opus is all about, mixed by David Husser (Depeche Mode, Indochine, LTNO), and mastered by Adam Bastard (Radiohead, Ben Harper, Block Party). For at the bend of dark synth pads and falsely pop choruses, between heavy guitar lines hammered with industrial sounds, it is the Korn spleen and the quirky synthetic touch of a Manson’s Mechanical Animals that one can retrieve here, though through a freer, more subtle form.
After extensive research and testing, Norsh finally brings in the voice of a generation – a generation which has grown up.
